Article One
The aim of the International Academy of Mathematical Chemistry (hereafter ‘the Academy’) is to encourage development of the application of Mathematics – and, in particular, Discrete Mathematics – to the study of Chemistry and related Sciences.

Article Two
The headquarters of the International Academy of Mathematical Chemistry shall be in Koper, Slovenia at the University of Primorska, FAMNIT, Glagoljaška 8, SI-6000 Koper.

Article Three
The purposes of the Academy shall be entirely scientific.

Article Four
The Academy shall be composed of persons (hereafter ‘the Members’) chosen from scientists, regardless of their country, who have distinguished themselves by the value of their scientific work and have thus significantly contributed to the advancement of Mathematical Chemistry, and/or who have been pioneers or leaders of particular research directions in the field, and/or who have locally promoted the advancement of Mathematical Chemistry.

Article Five
The Governing Body of the Academy shall be selected from the Academy's Members and shall consist of the President, several Vice-Presidents, Secretary, Treasurer, and the former President. Each person shall be elected for a period of four years and may serve for a second successive term.
A Governing Body Member who has served on the Governing Body continuously for eight years, in any capacity, shall automatically relinquish his or her office, but he/she shall, nevertheless, be able to stand (after a period of at least 4 years) in the future. The Secretary and the Treasurer are exempt from this time restriction. A Vice-President shall take the Chair in the absence or incapacity of the President. This acting President shall appoint an acting Vice-President from amongst the Academy's Members to serve until new elections can be held.

Article Six
The Academy shall meet at least once per year for a General Meeting (hereafter ‘G.M.’). A G.M. may be live or in a hybrid form. Elections to the Governing Body and of new Members can take place only during such a G.M.

Article Seven
Elections to the Governing Body shall be held by secret ballot by Members of the Academy present and voting at a G.M. An absolute majority for one candidate in the first round is sufficient for the election of that candidate. Election shall continue by considering for each vacant position two persons (or more in the case of ties) receiving the most votes. In the case of continuing ties in two successive rounds, subsequent rounds shall be performed by voting in public.

Article Eight
The Academy shall have a Nominating Committee, composed of the President of the Academy, a distinguished Member, educated as a Chemist and a distinguished Member educated as a Mathematician.
New Members of the Academy are chosen at the G.M. by Members present at the meeting. New Members shall be nominated by two Members of the Academy that reside in different countries and are not from the country of the candidate. A nomination letter together with a candidate's CV and list of at most 10 publications shall be sent by e-mail to the Secretary with a CC to the President, at least one month before election. The nomination shall be accompanied by a short letter of support of the candidate. At the next G.M., the Nominating Committee should give a formal justification, in writing, for the nomination. After as much discussion as is deemed necessary, voting shall take place for each candidate. To be accepted as a new Member, the candidate shall be required to have accrued at least 50% + one vote of the votes cast.

Article Nine
In the course of its meetings the Academy may decide to award recognition to distinguished or promising scientists in the field of Mathematical Chemistry on the grounds that the candidate is the author of one or more highly original papers that have an evident importance for Mathematical Chemistry. The recipient shall be chosen by the same procedure as that followed for the election of new Members. The winner can use the title of Laureate of the International Academy of Mathematical Chemistry. Proposals shall be presented at a given G.M. for consideration at the following year's G.M. and supporting material shall be sent to the Secretary for distribution to the Members at least three months in advance of that first G.M.

Article Ten
In the course of its meetings the Academy may decide to award recognition to highly original scientific publications in the field of Mathematical Chemistry (by an author or authors who need not be Members of the Academy) published within the last five years. The publication shall be selected by the same procedure as that followed for the election of new Members. This publication will be part of a list of Distinguished Contributions in Mathematical Chemistry that has been recognized as such by the Academy. Proposals shall be sent to the Secretary at least four months before a given G.M. and the Secretary shall distribute them to Members at least three months in advance of the G.M. in question.

Article Eleven
Changes in these Statutes shall require a majority of 66% of those present and voting, + 1 vote.
In all cases, 50% of those present and voting, + 1 vote, shall be needed in order for a proposal to be accepted for discussion.
These Articles have been adopted at the General Meeting of the International Academy of Mathematical Chemistry in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia on the Twenty Second of June 2023. They supersede any previous Statutes of the Academy and shall be published at the official Web Page of the Academy: https://iamc-online.eu/.
