One of the important businesses of the first Meeting of the Academy, after electing officers of the Academy, is to consider election of new members. There is no doubt that many qualifying and deserving the privilege of Academy membership may have been overlooked at this first roll. So persons on first list of members are invited to consider candidaters and nominate new members. It is felt that initially somewhat arbitrary 50 is a fair number for founding members of the Academy, but over the next five years the Academy may double its membership in view of unstoppable infiltration of Chemistry with Mathematics. The well-known statement of Lord Kelvin There is Mathematics and there is Physics, and everything else is stamp collecting is already outdated and should be replaced at least with: There is Mathematics, there is Physics, there is Chemistry, and everything else is stamp collecting, which hopefully will be sooner or later further modified by inclusion of Biology and Medicine as mathematically based disciplines. Be as it may, research excellence ought to be the prime factor for membership and the age should not hinder considerations of younger scientist showing promise.

The Meeting in Dubrovnik is co-organized by the NMR Center of the Institute Rudjer Boskovic, Zagreb, Croatia. The sponsors of the Academy includes the Croatian Academy of Science and Arts, Zagreb, Croatia, the National Institute of Chemistry, Ljubljana, Slovenia, and the Institute of Mathematics, Physics and Mechanics, University of Ljubljana, Ljubljana, Slovenia.
